Fashion Fest in T.O.

For the first time in Toronto, the Yonge & Dundas Square was transformed into a glitzy catwalk stage on August 23. A fashionista’s dream come true, this very first edition of the Fashion and Design Festival in Toronto featured a 3-day cutting edge of fashion and music, bringing fashion directly to the people who wear and make trends happen.

It was an eyeful event for tourists and locals where casual wears and lingerie shows from various designers line of clothing label from Toronto, Quebec and the United States were fabulously showcased bridging the divide between the sidewalk and the catwalk unlike traditional fashion shows, which are typically held exclusively or by invitation only.

Accordingly, audience should not be confused between the Fashion and Design Festival and the Fashion Design Council of Canada, which produces L’Oreal Fashion week in Toronto. The two are not affiliated.

Buskerfest 2007

Buskerfest is what could be called as the last but not the least major festival in Toronto this summer. With a donation of choice in support of Epilepsy Toronto, the historic St. Lawrence Market neighbourhood - along Front Street, between Church and Jarvis was filled with “BUSKERS” with thousands of spectators. Diversity speaks here as performers from across Canada, the US, England, Australia, India, France and Japan showcased their skills in entertainment of all sorts. From comedians, contortionists, musicians, magicians, sword swallowers, fire jugglers, acrobats, aerial artists and a few other feats that no words can describe, these performers know how to draw a crowd and certainly brought some thrilling phase to the Torontonians.

Not only that, the 4-day event, which started on August 23 also gave Torontonians samples of bevy gastronomic delights.  For the kids, lessons in magic and balloon twisting, and after dark, the streets are ablaze with fire, and the already offbeat comedy, gets a little more twisted.
