Dear readers,

It is 2008! As we begin this year, I would like to extend my warmest wishes to all our readers and supporters, contributing writers, advertisers and the entire GTA Team. Although it hasn’t been all sunshine and light, I must say that we are still blessed with many rewarding days and we look forward to many more years of success. Sad as it may seem, we have to bid adieu to 2007.

For this New Year’s edition, we have our Top 12 pick New Years Resolution from our readers. Thank you to those who have participated. More often than not, a New Year’s resolution is something that goes in one year and out the other. So here’s your biggest challenge and we wish you all good luck in keeping the promises you made to yourselves.

As the saying goes, “the best way to a person’s heart is through the stomach.”  So even without the restaurant or the bakeshop ambience, our young writer shares her simple yet creative idea of baking for the holidays-a sure delight that will definitely click even after the holidays. As rumour has it, we have something befitting for you in this frigid weather, the current all-the-rage hot drink in town-white tea. Did you know that when it comes to white tea, it is often true that you get what you pay for?  Read through, learn and enjoy its benefit.

With temperatures plummeting from -7 to -17 with heavy snowfall, it is indeed chilly in T.O. However, that won’t stop the Torontonians to enjoy life. Many braved the bitterly cold weather to join the crowd in countdown for New Year at the Nathan Philip Square. Leaf through the picture pages and feel the beauty of the winter season in T.O. Stay in-doors, if you could, and we will keep you warm with an inspirational article in our Profile of the Month, as we share with you a true story of a Chinese immigrant, who despite tons of career related challenges in T.O., did not give up in pursuing her goals. She stressed the importance of pursuing educational aspirations as a way to attain career goals.

Also, in pursuit of happiness and success in the New Year, read Nickolove Lovemore’s simple advice and bone up on the power to choose how we feel.

So, as we make a new beginning, let us gracefully wave hello to 2008 and fill our hearts with new hope, reach out for new opportunities, approach life enthusiastically and with creativity. Remember that: “Whatever your labours and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace within your soul. With all its shame, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy”.
